Today wasn't about a major milestone.
It was about uncovering a story.
I spent the day sanding the old paint and lettering from the teak trim on both the port and starboard bows. As the paint slowly disappeared, the original teak began to emerge again—warm, rich, and full of character.
Then something unexpected happened.
Beneath the paint, another name appeared.
Odyssey.
At some point in her past, Dream Maker had sailed under a different name. More surprising still, it became clear that the old name had simply been painted over rather than fully removed before the boat was renamed.
For sailors, a renaming ceremony is more than tradition. It's a symbolic way of honoring a vessel's past while beginning a new chapter. Seeing the old name still resting beneath the paint was a quiet reminder suggesting that Dream Maker's renaming had never been fully completed.
Today wasn't just about restoring teak.
It was about uncovering another piece of her story.
